Keeping snare out of drummer vocal mic

Anyone got any tips as to how to keep snare out of a drummers vox mic? I'm guessing the
laws of physics demand that it is what it is.

Depends on how disciplined the drummer is. Probably the best solution would be an Audix
OM7, best feedback/bleed rejection mic I've come across - but the drummer would need to
eat it!

As mentioned, a DIRECTIONAL
headset mic would probably be where I would turn, but also some work can be done with
CAREFUL gating, combined with a sidechain to narrow it down to the vocal range being where
it is most sensitive to instead of the full range.
I rarely deal with drummers
with headset mics, so my typical is either deal with it via mixing(Bring down fader when
not in use) but also if on a good digital console I will do the sidechained gating
technique as well set for each song as needed and recalled with scenes.

Use an electronic kit. Works great for my band. No spill ever from the drum mics!

im going to give you a real rock n roll answer here, but it works for me....
Just
deal with it, there is no way you will get rid of it completely. just avoid using many
effects on that vocal mic

Yes, an Audix or Heil PR 35 and eat the mic, or if the stage noise is OK, then you can try
a mic with a nice off-axis sound like a Neumann KMS 105 and use it as part of the kit mix.
Delaying the vox mic to the snare may be a good idea, if it's a fixed mic.
