whine between my amp and Boss JS-10

Hi, it's been a while...wondering if someone can help me; I have the newish Boss JS-10 Recorder/looper, and sometimes (and tonight it was really bad!) there's a whine between the recorder and my amp. Maybe needs grounding, but not sure if I can ground one or both of them! Thanks for any feedback!
