Im trying to use a nord rack 2x as an external instrument with logic 9. Despite changing my buffer size, after a few seconds of using it, it starts to make a horrible crackling noise when notes are played.

It doesnt start immediately, its like it decides to do it a little while after i've started to use it.

very annoying.

any suggestions would be much appreciated!

listen to the headphone out of the Nord, if it's making the same noise, the synth needs attention. If you only hear the noise in Logic, there might be an issue with your sound inputs on your soundcard or the software drivers to the soundcard you use with Logic, or your configuration of your inputs of your soundcard in Logic. Try changing samplerate in your sound control panel (44.100hz ..) or buffer size, or download new drivers. If the Nord is faulty, to fix it, try a factory reset (check manual how to) or try replacing battery (you probably need to open it up), but probably the synths needs to be looked at by a qualified person.

Something else that can occur with VA synths is digital clipping within the synth. Most of them have a patch volume / level parameter for each patch that can be adjusted to solve the problem, so you could try tweaking that.

I've wasted hours of my life trouble shooting driver and interface trouble that turned out to be down to this!
