Drum machine iPhone/iPod app for guitar practice
      #789914 - 23/11/09 03:10 AM

Hello to all.

Can anyone recommend a good iPod/iPhone app for guitar practice? I play rootsy rock music so an app with realistic acoustic sounding drum samples would suit, with a variety of time signatures and kits.

Something with a number of preset loops would be great.

There must be a decent (not gimmicky) application of this kind that is suitable for a musician to practice with and that is not just a toy.

There are loads of drum machine apps on iTunes, and they are generally cheap, but I am hoping to get a recommendation so I don't have to try several.

I can't see why there wouldn't be something that is the equsal to, or better, than classic practice drum machines like the Alesis SR 16.

All comments welcome.

I have a first generation iPhone which is not 3g - so apparently that app is not compatible with my phone at present. Any other suggestions?

Just tried "digidrummer."

Not bad for electronic sounding drums. No presets though, and the big negative is no simulated velocity sensitivity (the pads should be louder when you hit them towards the centree, and quiter towards the edges, or something similar, to simulate velocity sensitivity.

Also no presets. So thumbs down in the end for my purposes.
