Changing to HTTPS - Dont !

I have been using Hotmail on my mac for years, but now it has crashed...

I got an option to change to HTTPS, which they recommend, but now the Hotmail is no longer usable. The messages are way below the side bar, instead of adjacent, and wont open

Any suggestions ?

Try another browser.

See if turning off the https option helps, in your situation.

Do M$ provide any support for free hotmail, or, is it a case of TANSTAAFL ?

Yes Microsoft do provide support for Hotmail (you can even call them!)

But I would strongly advise against not using HTTPS. Without the encryption used in the HTTPS protocol (128 bit ssl if I am not mistaken), you are more than likely sending your username and password plain text over the internet which is not good at all.
Any website that uses logins should be using encryption and by using HTTPS you are basically guaranteeing that.

The login system for the

website and the associated user areas (but not the forum posts/threads) use HTTPS.

Yep - I presume that's why Lunch turned it on in the first place.

Is this an option in hotmail preferences, where it can be switched back off, to see if that fixes the broken page layouts etc ?

What happens when trying another browser ?

I wasn't object to using HTTPS, its just that when I accepted the option, it crashed Hotmail.

In the end I took the option of a free upgrade to Outlook, so I have email.

But quite a shock to the system to learn how dependent on it I am...
