Internet Explorer 8

Hi, I upgraded my Windows XP machine from IE7 to IE8 a while back but certain websites
(Twitter and the new Soundcloud for example) won't let me view them. Some other websites
warn me that I'm still on IE7. I've checked my machine and it's telling me I have IE8
installed both in the "About Internet Explorer" section in the "Help" drop down bar and
when I check the system information. Anyone any ideas? Thanks.

Well, we could suggest some things, but IE8 is so abysmal you'd be better off without
it. This is for your own good.

Whilst we're having a broswers thread, anyone else got hands on with waterfox yet? Its a
64bit build of Firefox that appears to be a bit quicker and cure some of the memory leak
issues of the main build.

I find that Firefox is a memory hog.
Dunno why IE8 is giving you trouble:
it's generally rock solid. Make sure you are on the latest patch level, clear your cache
and your cookies and have another go.
Nothing wrong with Chrome either.

Cheers, will give it a try. Looks like I'll have to go with Chrome or suchlike soon
though.

I found Chrome a memory hog, much more so
than Firefox! I used Chrome for about 6 months and ditched it. The Firefox did go through
a bloatboat phase but I think they got the message and got it back to basics again, lean
and mean.
I found Chrome started a new 'instance' in Task Manager with each Tab
I opened, it was using 50% cpu, whereas Firefox, with the same sites opened, settled down
at about 35%, so I thought that'll do me, Firefox it is.
That being said, I
have found IE is at last getting more streamlined and curse upon my family, I am thinking
of going back to IE! I do like the customization available in FF, You Tube Downloads,
browse local files, easily create folders. For example I have over the past 9 months
created a Music Folder and put embedded folders within that, say Rock, Pop, Jazz,
Classical etc and dragged YouTube videos into the respective folders.
I use
Firefox Portable so Wowzer, I have a portable Video Jukebox!

Just downloaded
& installed over the weekend, does seem a lot "nippier" than firefox which has been my
main browser since 2003.
Plus, all my add-ons worked no problem. Seems
promising.
If i was forced to use internet exploder, i think i'd give up on
surfing.
