If you are exporting a finished mix then fixed point, 24 bit is the way to go.
32-bit floating point is beneficial for storing the working files of a project still in
progress, but there are a number of slightly different floating point formats and so
trying to transfer floating point material between workstations can be problematical.
Added to which, the dynamic range capability of 32-bit FP isn't necessary for a finished
mix.

I'm an automation programmer. Some
equipment can use 2 different 32 bit formats - one's called 'FLOAT', the other is called
'REAL'. I wish everyone would stick to the same IEEE standard (754).

In all probability both float and real (also called double in non
pascal derived languages) are defined by IEEE754, the difference is that one is 32 bit and
the other 64 bit. Both have a purpose and neither is going away anytime soon.
