64-bit Windows 8 Drivers for Frontier Tranzport?
      #1045612 - 29/04/13 09:02 AM
I don't suppose anyone has encountered such a thing have they? I've tried the ones that work with Win7, but the installer won't run in Win8. Attempts to contact Frontier have so far proved unsuccessful.

Anyone got anything that might help?

There's a post here by someone who apparently got it working in Windows 8 by installing it in Windows 7 compatibility mode...

Looks like it's time to unload my Frontier Design equipment, good swag but not the most communicative of companies.

Well that sorted out the install side of things, and it's now showing up as a control surface inside Sonar - all I have to do now is get them to talk to each other. Probably time to break out the manual...

If you haven't already done so, you might also want to check the Sonar-related plug-ins and documentation on Frontier Design's Tranzport downloads page (listed below the drivers), although a bit out of date now.

Well I worked out why SONAR and the Tranzport aren't talking, the latter doesn't show up as a MIDI device. So much for the install then... back to the drawing board.

Have you installed the Sonar plug-in for the Tranzport (when installing the Tranzport driver)?

Yes, it's built into the install file I used. I had an internet outage last night, so didn't end up looking at it any further, but I'll try uninstalling everything and re-installing a fresh download later. Tranzport is showing up as a control surface inside SONAR (and as a DLL in the appropriate SONAR X2 directory), and I can pull up the config menu too. It doesn't show as a MIDI device though, and that appears to be the root of the problem. I've also checked in the Win8 Device Manager, and there are no indications there that there is any problem with the Tranzport drivers.

Well I've no real idea what happened, but tonight, Tranzport decided to show up as a MIDI device and as soon as I selected it, it worked. Problem solved - whatever it was....
