Vista/Firewire Woes
      #785647 - 08/11/09 03:54 PM

Greetings; I recently added a Liquid Mix and a Saffire (26 Pro i/o) to my DAW. It used to be rock solid, but now it's giving me grief.

One problem is that if set my display colours to 32-bit, i get pops and crackles. If i switch down to 16-bit, everything sounds fine, but GUIs for some of my softsynths and plugins (including the liquid mix) get corrupted.

My graphics card is an NVidia 8400 GS...i recall hearing that some people generally have gotten better DAW results with ATI vs NVidia graphics cards...any opinions?

Also, the LMix and the Saffire can't seem to co-exist on the same Firewire port (bandwith error msg's and drop-outs). I'm looking at getting a PCIe firewire card -- anyone gone this route and have advice to offer?

Prior to the Saffire i was using a TC Konnekt24D, which gave me rock solid performance. But the Saffire has alot of features i really like, and my first impressions are that the Saffire sounds better.

Regards
Glenn
