komplete audio 6 with other drivers in the system
      #994318 - 23/06/12 11:36 AM
I have been using a Sonar V-studio 100 with my laptop for live use and was going to get another one so I don't have to disconnect the home setup every time I do a gig but I have realized I could buy Komplete Audio 6 cheaper. Thing is will it be a problem having both drivers on the system? There is also a roland gr-55 connected. the laptop is an HP windows 7 i5 laptop and with a few tweaks has proven rock solid so far. the Komplete appeals because of it's bus powering which would mean less wires and I reckon it would be lighter and more compact. I am also not sure if it does straight thru audio so I can talk on the mic whilst changing songs on the laptop. Any experiences?

Don't know why you have been missed SC but nah!

I have all sorts of drivers on my pcs. My laptop (i3 HP 4G ram win7/64) has the Ka6 drivers, M-A Fast track pro, even some for the Behringer BCA2000 (din't work!). My main pcs use a 2496 but also the Ka6 as and when, plus the pro and I probably still have the drivers lurking for my ESI 1010E which is no longer used! Never been a bit of trouble.

BTW: Does anybody know how to get rid of "devices"? What I mean is, hardware that is no longer connected, that has HAD the drivers removed still shows in the DAW lists even if the DAW is uninstalled and re done.

And also BTW, you will LOVE the Ka6!

Dave.

Cheers for that. Will it do straight through without passing through the pc for audio? With the VS100 I just dial in the main mix and can mic straight through as I am changing sequences in Sonar.
Haven't done it for a while but you used to be able to go into safe mode and all the left over drivers would show up in device manager for you to uninstall .

If you mean will the Ka6 run "stand alone"? I don't think so. It seems unlikely since they have not given us the option of other than bus power? (Ah! Just powered mine up with a usb wall rat. AKG cap mic works but no feedthru to headphones or rear sockets) My Fast track pro DOES work as a pre amp delivering headhone and line out plus S/PDIF,a most handy facility.

Did not know about that safemode/drivers stunt. Must have a try with my "semi redundant" living room XP PC!

Dave.
