Man this guy played with everyone
from George Clinton to Frank Sinatra. He also played bass on those infamous Hendrix albums
produced by Alan Douglas - Crash Landing and Midnight Lightning - where the bass and drum
parts were re-done. I always liked them even though they were hated by the purists.

Yes it's a shame people like him aren't more well known. If I can point to a great film
"Standing in the Shadows of Motown" (sure some people here will know it) you will see some
good interviews with Bob. Look out for one one where he relates how on the night Martin
Luther King was killed, the band smuggled him out of danger, saving his life. Being white
and in the black neighbourhood at the time. He starts crying as he tells that tale. The
things guys from that era went through, not just music but everything else. Things are
better now right?

Very, very sad news.
Just this sunday I thought I'd watch 'Standing in the
shadows..'. Didn't find the time that day, but will now make time. In fact
everybody should see this film, these guys are the real heroes in music, yet all of them
remained almost unknown to the general public for all of their lives. Whatching the
movie makes me sad everytime, these guys remained real gentlemen, very polite very humble
but they should have gotten way more credit than they got.
