Fluttering DT770

Disaster. The left driver in my beloved Beyer DT770 has started fluttering on low
frequencies. I know this isn't like the DT100/150 where everything is
serviceable. Anyone had a similar situation? Is it repairable or do I need to start saving
up?

The DT770s are "field serviceable" iirc. At least I hope so.
I'd get on to the
local supplier/distributor or e-mail Beyer directly, they'd know.

Looks like the UK distributor is Polar. I'll give them a call tomorrow. Thanks.

I've replaced a couple of drivers in the 770s before. It's a little fiddlier than the
DT100s etc. but possible. Enjoy!

Did you have to replace both to minimise inconsistent tone between the two drivers, or did
you just run the replaced driver in for a while each time?

I have had this problem with DT770 and DT990 and it is probably something loose like a
internal cable causing it, You could try carefully opening up and removing the driver unit
to check.

Seems feasible. More likely
for a dodgy cable/connection to reveal itself when reproducing bass, I'd think.
oggyb, please let us know what you find out.
