Behringer BCR2000 - cheap but is it reliable?
      #1029118 - 17/01/13 05:46 PM
Advertised at £109 in quite a few stores on the net, the Behringer BCR2000 seems like a good choice for a small army of pots to do some serious tweaking on the fly. It seems quite popular too.

I know Behringer used to be cheap but not very cheerful when it came to reliability. I am not sure whether their reputation has improved in recent years.

£109 is cheap but would I be getting a reliable controller? Behringer advertise this as having quality components and offer a 3 year guarantee which is great. But I don't want to be sending this away every other week.

Has anybody had any experience with this controller? More importantly, are they reliable?

Thanks for any replies on this!

I've got the BCF 2000, it's sister unit (has automated faders), had it for about a year, no reliability probs.

More importantly there are gobs of both units out there, with tons of forum posts about them, and I got the sense when I was doing my research that the usual (fairly deserved or not) complaints of Behringer unreliability were missing regarding these units.

FWIW!

I've got a BCF2000 for about 5 year now and it is still going strong without a problem!

I have a BCR2000, and think it's great! As it's just encoders and no moving parts there's little to go wrong. Even if the template for a DAW doesn't work well you can map the controllers to anything in your project.

Um, pretty certain all those rotary push encoders and pushbuttons are "moving parts"...
