Live concert streaming - software recommendations?

Not a great deal to add to the title - I have been asked to try streaming a couple of concerts at a local arts venue. I will just want to take a stereo submix from the FOH desk, with perhaps a couple of room mics thrown in, and have it sent direct to an online audio stream using my macbook pro and a good ethernet connection.

i.e., I don't want to record the concert, then stream it.

Anyone got any software/platform recommendations? Many thanks if you do!

How good ? And how many listeners do you expect, and at what sort of bitrate ?

Quite likely, the connection you can realistically get in the venue may not be fast enough for all the streams. So you'll want to relay (in real time) one copy of the audio from the venue, to a server, perhaps in some sort of data centre, from where large amounts of bandwidth is available for the multiple end-user streams.

Sorry - yes, you are right... and I wasn't as clear as I could have been maybe...

The end result I am after is that I use the connection to "upload" a single stream, and the end listener taps into it using a web browser, as with NiceCast . I'm just wondering what other options there are out there software-wise, or any good/bad experiences.

I can buy software if need be, but realistically for these concerts if 20 to 30 people tuned in, that would be a pretty great result. I don't need a server or online platform that can cater to thousands!

A bump if I may, and also to highlight I did misunderstand something... I now realise that icecast based systems (like NiceCast) will, as chris said, place all the streaming bandwidth on my upload speed shoulders.

I've downloaded a trial version of NiceCast and it is dead easy - so now I DO need advice/recommendations on any distribution servers so I can have more than 4 people listening at the same time.

Just have a Livestream with a tracklist showing on the video. You can use their (very pink) director software to cue new screens.
