Hi chaps,

I've just completed the mix of a cover my band have recorded (keep the fans interested while we beaver away doing the album in a proper studio).
We recorded it in my garage, with logic and a Pro40 with a hand full of budget mics and duvets.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I think this is pretty good, its a hard genre to nail since the playing has to be tight, and a mix is either good and solid, or it fails.

There are a few times the drumming does not keep up, and i'm not sure about the hi-hat panning.

Overall though, it lacks maybe a bit of bite and zing, on my systems it sounds a little dull. You could try a program eq lift at the top if nothing else, otherwise maybe some individual elements could be made a little more exciting, including the vocal.

Its not bad though, not bad at all - you just need that last 10%.

Listening on headphones - sounded pretty good actually; the hi-hat panning did catch my attention but I didn't mind it. I probably sound like a broken record telling everyone to tune their vocals, but I'd check this over; I got the impression it was hitting slightly flat in a few places. Like Chaconne says, maybe the vocal could use something to make it "more exciting", either in the sound or the delivery...there's room for improvement there somewhere. I don't know the original, but the only other thing that bothered me was the repetition in the lyrics which started to grate at around 1.50. Maybe you could cut some of the vocals around here on and do something with the instrumentation instead. Overall though, good mix, tight band. Nice one.

Very nicely done. Tight playing and well recorded. A few nips and tucks and some ear-candy/spot FX and it would stand up in any company.

I don't know the original either!

First off - 2.46, and proper ending

Nice song choice, I think the original is really boring. It works a lot better as a rock song.
I'm not a fan of the 'nooooooow' slowing down effect in general, 2.11 and the end, I don't think it's needed. Otherwise, good work.
