Pianoroll composition. Quicker than you think...
      #946945 - 13/10/11 12:31 PM
I've done this real-time video of a quick sketch using Cubase and Miroslav plugins, just to show how quickly you can get ideas down just using the piano-roll window. Thoughts?

Yep. My thoughts is that it´s faster to play it on the keyboard
I use piano roll drawing often though; especially when on the go on airplanes or such with my MBpro on my lap. It works.

I do a combination of both.

Mostly piano roll for precision and quick changing of ideas, plus little motives and licks over the top with keyboard.

Both are perfect for their respective jobs

Well, the end result certainly justifies the 10 mins I spent watching it.

Thanks for that.

I suggest if you have both, then use the midi keyboard to play around with sounds then paint using the piano roll when you have a good chord or note pattern. That's what I do, it makes the process much faster if you don't like to record and quantize your midi keyboard patterns!
