Honestly - if you want a mobile jotting pad, buy a paper one instead. It's just the wrong interface.

Ok. And your comment is based on experimentation with one or both of them, or it's your point of view?

All three :-) It's a great platform for displaying media. A lousy one for inputting data.

Oh, well , I'm sad to hear that. I'm using my iPad A LOT around the house and everywhere I go. A good basic notation editor for the iPad would be welcome.

I don't need anything as powerful as Finale or Sibelius but something stable, flexible and easy to use to input basic note entries on a staff or a piano score and with an export function in MIDI format that I could later import in Logic or ProTools.

Seems I'll have to wait...

At least the good news for now is you made me save between 7 and 15 bucks, thanks to you!

Cheers!

Oh, for goodness sake, try them then! People who have fallen in love with their iPad have a remarkable facility for loving EVERYTHING it does, even when an outsider might say "what a lousy way of doing it!" :-) I find inputting data to a touch-screen laborious in the extreme, and the apps little more than toys. You might love them! And they're certainly cheap enough.

Ok since you tried them both.

Let's suppose you are obliged to use iPad in for a week... Try very hard to imagine that the iPad is the only tool you have at your disposal, nothing else, to enter/edit note and lyrics of a couple of short songs on one staff. Yes you know that it will be a real PITA and you'll become completly nuts at the end of the week, but you don't have the choice, only the choice of the app. Wich one then between Notion an Symphony Pro -- man, I hate too that stupid name for a software -- wich one would you recommend?

Notion. Because anything labelled "pro" isn't.

Yep, agree, at least on the iPad and other mobile platforms. ( Logic Pro and Pro tools are otoh, pro OSX and Windows apps you'll agree).

And I'd add that looking at the screen shots, the fonts used in Symphony Pro look so ugly and toy'ish that they'd kill my inspiration rigth away. Notion looks way better!

Well that concludes this topic. The winner is the cheaper Notion.

Thanks very much for your help and time Mr. E.W.

Such as the dreadfully amateurish Logic Pro 9 and Pro Tools.
