Current Summation new
      #1003003 - 12/08/12 12:12 PM
I wonder - if I were to connect two isolated 9 volt DC sources in parallel, one rated at 250ma and the other at 100ma - would I achieve 9volts at 350ma? Basically I wish to use a current 'doubler' cable on two of the outputs on the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 plus...

Expert opinions most appreciated and gratefully received...

If they are simple transformer-rectifier-cap then you'll get away with it, but probably won't get quite as much current as you expect.

If they are regulated supplies of any kind then whichever outputs the (fractionally) greater voltage will try to supply the current. By the time its voltage drops enough for the other one to take up the slack you are almost certainly over-stressing it.

With the cost of small PSUs these days, I really don't see any point in taking the risk.

+1 wot he said. Why take the risk? Buy a chunkier supply that will do the job properly.
