Guitar tech around Reading? new
      #1008847 - 17/09/12 09:20 PM
I'm looking for a guitar tech in the Reading area. Whilst I no longer live anywhere near Reading, I work in the centre so I'm in and around virtually every day. I used to go to Guitarworks and was gutted when they closed.

Any recommendations?

Spend 50 minutes driving to Kew and use Chandlers.

thanks Sam, but Kew is around two hours from home for me. i was hoping for someone within lunch hour range of Reading. i may have sourced the number for the fella who used to do set ups at Guitarworks, so i'll give him a call. other suggestions are welcome, though.

Indeed, Max is more than very good, he's tres excellent. And that does beg the question, as you aren't actually in Reading but just working there, where is home (roughly) as there may well be someone 'not in Reading' who is actually closer to where you live who might be worth recommending.

home is Lambourn, near Hungerford. i'm rarely home before six, so if there's someone who'll do weekends or evenings that would be grand. i'd assumed no self-respecting 'tech would do unsociable hours, though...

Hi There
Julian at Guitarworks left his details stuck to the shop door when the store closed and I've just managed to find them. He was working from home in Reading. I have pm'd you the details. Hope that helps.

Andy

Can you ask Max if he would be up for potting a pair of pickups for me, and maybe giving my amp rig a once over - all for proper money rather than the bottle of JD he requested for fixing a switch and a pot on a couple of rack units ...

I've only ever contacted him via a PM here

Andy hope this is ok?

Max can be contacted at:
Maxtech.audio[at]me.com or you can go to his web page with the same name.

Onesecondglance - Pay a "quick" visit to Max...I say a quick visit but it'll be nothing of the sort. You'll find yourself chatting for hours
He's only 20 miles up the A474? and I guarantee you'll be happy with his work.

Perfectly OK to give the link. Forum rules specifically allow members to share links to 3rd parties that might be of interest to other members.

And besides, it's Max we're talking about!! He's more than earned a reference and link for his efforts over the years

Just in case you missed it

Actually, it would be a quick cruise up the A34 for those near Hungerford!

Also - Andy : could you alter the posts so that we reformat the email address (replace @ with [at] or such) so that those nasty scrapers don't start flooding the poor chap's email address with spam?

Oh .. and yet another recommendation from me. For the work he does, he criminally under-charges..
