iPolysix (€13.99 until the end of December)

That's what I like about my iPad: every now and then I can buy myself a nice new "toy" for a reasonable impulse-buy-price

Yep, got one the other day for a mere tenner. Of course I have it as a VST in my Legacy collection but it is very handy as a portable onon the ipad. I wonder out of interest if there is any difference in sound quality between the app and the VST.

Comming from a company like Korg, I expect them to sound the same (I don't own the Legacy Collection).

The AU, VST for MacOS and iPad app are programmed in a different programming language (Objective C) than the VST for Windows (probably C++). However, the underlying software design and algorithms should be the same for all of them.

Since the audio output of all of them is a digital steam, when the implementation is done correct, these audio streams should be exactly the same, hence, they all should sound the same!

I've been tweaking with the iPolysix and realy like it. It sound great. However, I don't own a Hardware Polysix, so I don't know how realistic the iPolysix is, but. to my ears Korg did a good job. One of the great things is the learning curve: it's really flat for somebody with a little analog synth experience. For me it was a walk in the park, but then I've got lots of experience with my JX-3P...

Compared to JX + PG-200 there's only one big issue: I want knobs, knobs, and more real knobs!

But then again: for €14 that issue dissolves easily

Just hope the Korg continues making iPad recreations of classic synths like iPolysix and iMS-20! Maybe an idea for other companies like Roland, Yamaha, Akai, Casio, Kawai, Alesis etc.
