iOS 6.1

I've not jumped to install this update on my iPad 2 yet because in the past I have had a
couple of bad experiences stemming from iOS updates (complete loss of audio on one case
and loss of ability to use USB audio and MIDI devices via the connector in another). Maybe
we could share news of the update and any good or bad effects on this thread?

I installed 6.1 on my iPhone yesterday and on the lady elf's iPhone tonight.
Lady elf's phone I just did on the phone itself, wireless connected to the home network,
and it worked perfectly. Quick and completely painless.
Mine I updated via
iTunes on my laptop, the phone (not the laptop) hung and I needed to do a restore. The
restore worked, but it took a few hours to get everything back to normal.
That's the last time I let iTunes handle the update.

iTunes is the worst piece of software ever foisted on an unsuspecting public. I never,
ever, ever use it since I found out I could transfer stuff onto my iPad using 3rd party
software.

What do you use for transferring, Richard?

Hi Elf, I use something called CopyTrans Manager (free)... Very straightforward to use.

Thanks, Richard! I'll take a look at it.

Did mine wirelessly. Quick and easy. Still no issues. This could turn out to be a very
boring thread.

Agreed! Thanks very much for this.
I don't use my iPhone to hold music, but if I did this is far simpler than
iTunes. Given that iTunes has now twice messed up a software update (the previous update
REALLY messed up lady elf's phone *big* style) I think I've seen the last of it.
