Following on from a thread in the Live Forum, I purchased an Audix Microboom system with a cardioid M1250B mic and have posted up some comparisons with a Neumann KMS105 (referred to live announcement duties) and a Microtech Geffel M300 (referred to spot and close mic duties) on Soundcloud Here

Summary assessment, whilst not in the league of the far more expensive KMS105 and M300, the M1250B is neveretheless a workable solution where minimal visual impact is a required.
