can anyone advise on any system or eqipement that will correct or enhance bad vocal

If it's out of tune then autotune can drag it back into line, but not without sounding unnatural. If it's just a bad vocal sound then no you're stuck with that. But it's worth trying a few mics. A lot of the common mics around sound ok with most people, but if a singer has say a nasal sound you might find trying a different mic helps. My personal favourite for a lot of stuff is the Beyer M201, but the more expensive Sennheiser Evolution series mics are very good and worth a look.
