I thought this thread was finished. Mind you, the DJ thing has invaded a couple of
other threads.

ok, but just one last thing. at the end of the day we are arguing about a word, it comes
down to symantecs. the dictionary for musician included someone who conducts music. i
think that a creative dj meets this requirement. in essence he conducts players, allbeit
prerecorded. he chooses what happens when by his players, their tempo and accent and so
on. its a no brainer. i cant see why anyone would want to do it when theres so many
instruments to play. but i reckon they meet the requirement in a modern context. sorry,
finished now.

So if DJs are musicians by the dictionary definition of 'musician', then if a DJ is
someone who 'plays music', then we are all DJs. Can't wait to tell the wife.....

As a fellow Guitarist I can remember a time when I would have agreed with statements like
a "DJ is not a musician" --> then I heard people like Exhaust, 1-Speed Bike and DJ Shadow

Turntablism is IMHO an art form which should be embraced and intergrated. Back in the 60's
McCartney manipulated pre-recorded tape (much in the same way as Varese or Stockhausen 20
years earlier) Is "Tomorrow never knows" not genius? The same techniques are used today by
a DJ/Turntablist.... aren't they
Personally I would love to cut my guitar ideas stuff to wax - anyone have any ideas on how
I could go about this?
