Toolkit for repairing Macs? new
      #144520 - 17/06/05 05:16 PM
Hello peeps,
I an couple of months yours truly should be a certified AppleCare Desktop Techinician. However, I need a toolkit for the job, (you know proper computer screwdrivers etc...), can anyone recommend a good kit? (sub £100 please).
Just something that would do the job and if i need anything extra (a putty knife for the mac mini for example) then I'll just pick it up.

If someone has a full list of the needed tools and somewhere to get them from that would be a HUGE help!!!

Thanks in Advance!!

Crip.

only for lappies, which may need specific torx s/drivers etc..

for desktops any old bog-standard pc toolkit for £10 does the job, in my experience

yeah the desktop ranges can all be dealt with with the std tool kit, Lappies do need Small torx heads ,(T6 , and 8 off the top of my head. ), and there's the occasional allen-key head. Also Security Hex heads (with central hole for the spigot) are worth having in this industry .... normal PC / Mac things aren;t an issue, but finding a studio has them but can't undo their rack mounted drives because they can't find the hex bit is annoying as all hell....

Lindy actually do some rather nice and relatively well priced kits.

off topic, sorry. do you reckon it's worth trying to fit a new fly back transformer into a G3 imac? Think it's probably that (you have to sort of trick it into turning on)
