CD Baby - big in Norway? new
      #143857 - 16/06/05 01:36 PM
I'm selling CDs through CD Baby and a curious trend seems to be developing.

Almost as soon as my band (The Great Distance) registered with the Baby, we've sold a steady flow of CDs to people in Norway.

When the first few went out we had a few laughs about 'being beig in Norway' but as the sales slowly kept coming (still only talking about one per week), we're moving into a state of happy puzzlement. Is it that Norwegians simply use CD Baby a lot, or are we making music which massively appeals to our Scandinavian cousins?

Any one else experienced bizarre trends in their online distribution??

Are you getting some local word of mouth or playlisted on local radio? Could be that...

Or does your band name mean something, er, different in Norwegian?

That's the bizarre thing - we literally have no connection to the place and have never made any attempt to publicise our album. One day the sales just started and so far haven't stopped.

At one CD a week, we're probably more likely to get a record deal than Geri Haliwell.

On behalf of norwegians.....hmm...

sounds strange...I for one haven't even heard of CDbaby before....but you might have been playlistet by some obscure radiostation or something...I don't know....

I sell a lot of CD's on CD Baby to Sweden... I guess they must have good taste!!! lol
Also I think the exchange rate is very good as the dollar is so low at the moment.

I've sold a fair amount of CDs via CDBaby so far (= a few every week for about a couple of months) but not a single one in Norway! Actually, all of them were sold to US costumers, except one to a canadian one!

Obviously, my music doesn't appeal to scandinavians LOL
