HD24 control from DM24 new
      #188969 - 29/09/05 08:52 AM
Has anyone managed to get the Tascam DM24 transport controls to talk to an Alesis HD24? As far as I can tell it should work with the MMC control template on the DM24... but no joy. I've got MTC from the HD24 registering on the Tascam, and all my midi cables are good.

Any suggestions?

No-brainer question, but is the HD24 set to receive/slave to incoming MMC?

Seems obvious doesn't it... As far as I can tell yes. But there doesn't seem to be a specific function to turn this on and off. I've just checked the manual from the Alesis site and the only references it has to MMC are whether it sends MMC from the onboard transport buttons and the MMC device ID.

I've tried setting up a standard MMC device on the DM24 using the same device ID as the HD24. No joy.

Does the Tascam talk MMC to anything else? Have you tried using another MMC controller to control the HD24? Both Bob Smith and I have written PC based MMC control programs if you need something to check that the HD24 is receiving commands properly. Bob's program can be found at http://www.bsstudios.com/index2.html or email me if you want a copy of mine.

Cheers.

James.

I got it working last night courtesy of a how to doc I found on a yahoo group, but it's apparent I don't understand MMC IDs and how it actually works. Anyone know of a good tutorial on this stuff?
