How do I create the Donna Summer 'I Feel Love Sound' new
      #190238 - 01/10/05 09:38 PM
Hello,

Im trying to create the 'I Feel Love' synth sound by Donna Summers. Its the rhythmic base line produced by Geogio Morolder.

Was a step sequencer or arpigio used? What synths was used?

My gear consists of Reaktor5,Reason1,Vanguard,Albino, AN1X, Access virus c, Novation supernova2, MS2000R.

However, I'm having a lot of trouble creating this sound.

Any tips please

Alien

Well there's definitely a delay line in to convert from 1/8th notes to 16th notes and I read that it was a Minimoog. I always thought it sounded like a Roland though.. Not sure what was used as the sequencer - I think it was pre-MC4.

aye sure in the video he is using a moague modular synth with the sequencer on that, then he is dividing down with analogue delay echos, and phasing it tae fock and stuff.
He also does Hohner clavinet stabs.

Ewe will never make it sound that good with wick software synths.
He also used Donna Summer to sing it, which helps ;-)

The delay is definitely the trick, but it's a really tricky one to get right.
Lots of stuff about Moroder here: (Keep clicking though the links at the bottom of each article)

I saw him recreating the sequence + delay on TV.
It was very simple.

He started off with an unremarkable phrase and then he added the delay and it was there.
He was using a step sequencer.

Ah so ok,I understand the use of delay effects, but trying to figure out the note pattern, sounds like 3notes - CDE?

It sounds looped just wondering if it was a synth sequencer, arpigro or just played by had and looped on tape?

The link works, but attempting to stream or download returns a network error.

There is a copy of the accapella floating around which is breath taking, drenched in effect, reverse echo and verb chorus - and the voice spine tingling! - a big part of the sound.

The "I Feel Love" preset on the GForce MiniMonsta is pretty impressive.

My efforts to play it in time, less so...
