Maudio - audiophile new
      #20578 - 23/09/04 06:17 PM
Hello,
can the Maudio audiophile (PCI) have multiple cards in a system? You can now get one for £49.99 so if you could then for £100 you get 8in 8out and 64 channels of MIDI!!

Not bad eh,

MM

In theory, the M-audio driver can handle 4 cards. Whether this works in practice would depend on having 4 pci slots that the cards like, which isn't something you can take for granted.

BTW, where have you seen that price - have M-audio had another price crash?

I don't think I'd like to risk possible earth loop/noise problems with 4 unbalanced interfaces in the pc chassis.

The Audiophile has dropped in price recently. Although, if you really want to use muliple cards, I'd go for the Terratec Phase 22 - which is actually designed for daisy chaining. It's in the same price range, and is very similar in spec.

If you had more than one audiophile, wouldn't you need to connect the digital I/O so that they stay in sync?

Correct. The Delta series can be daisychain sync'd from the s/pdifs.
If you don't need the midi, 2x Delta 66 would give a cleaner setup with balanced i/o for about the same cost as 4x Audiophiles.
