Panning using Logic new

I am trying to achieve proper panning in logic, so for example i have a vocal sample saying yes...and i want it say yes to the left channel, then yes to the right...to get that wicked effect when you listed to it on headphones (similar to boards of canada aquarius)...

However when i seem to pan using logic it doesnt really shift the sample completely to the left or right channel as desired.

Any ideas?

how are you monitoring your outputs? thru a desk/MBox? If you don't pan them hard left/right, you'll not hear any panning on yer vocal sample.
