USB Midisport 4x2 new
      #22000 - 26/09/04 06:37 PM
Help connecting the Roland xv5080, USB Midiman Sport 4x2, Roland pc300 controller keyboard using
Cubase 5/32 on Windows xp.

If I connect the keyboard to the midisport input-1 and then connect a lead from midisport output-1 to the roland xv5080 I can get activity on the transport bar, but no sound. If then try connecting the keyboard directly to the xv5080 midi in and then connect the xv5080 midi out to the midisport midi-1 input, I get sound but no activity in cubase, which I assume would get it's input from the usb connection.

I should also add that the midisport has a single button, which functions as usb in the IN position and as midi through in the OUT position.

I would appreciate it if anyone could give advise for the correct way to connect things up.

I would also like to know if is possible to get the xv5080 patches to show in cubase instead of just seeing the usb midisport input and output.

Cheers
Adrian.

:

If you want the midi data to go into or out of the PC then leave this button IN - if you want to play the sounds on the module when the PC is off then put the button to OUT.

Install the driver software and then cubase will see the ports.........

Hopefully you can then do the routing in cubase....

Good luck

Your first description is the correct one. As fruitfarmer says, you need to have the midi through button in the 'In' (USB) position. Have you checked whether the correct midi output is selected in Cubase? - it won't be by default. If so, maybe a dodgy midi lead could be your culprit. The other thing worth trying would be to connect the 5080 to one of the other outputs (and then select that output in Cubase), to check whether you have a faulty connection in your midisport.
