Tiger Aggregate device in Logic - anyone using them? new
      #220668 - 05/12/05 02:45 PM
Hi all

I can't seem to get my Line 6 TonePort to send it's input to my MOTU 896's outputs unless I have 'Software Monitoring' in Logic switched on. Can someone check if this is a universal thing or something special to my set-up. I can't find anything anywhere that says you have to have SW monitoring switched on for the devices to 'aggregate'!

Regards

Stephen

While I don't think you'll find it explicitly stated that you need to have Software Monitoring on. The very fact that Device Aggregation is part of the Operating System seems to imply it.

I'm not sure what you mean by that as Software monitoring is part of Logic while the Aggregate device is part of OSX. I was assuming that Tiger did all the routing, so I'm somewhat surprised that Logic has to be involved at all!

What happens in Garageband or Cubase?

I'm trying to use 2 interfaces, (Edirol UA-1X "2 in 2 out" and Emagic A62M 6 in 2 out) with my dual 2.7GHz Powermac running logic. I set up the aggregate setup to utilize all 8 ins and 4 outs, but when i boot up logic and select the aggregate device in the drivers window - nothing much seems to happen! I've read a post regarding software monitoring, but have the same results whether this is turned on or not.

Can someone please help as I need the extra 2 outs to use with the vocoder on my Virus synth!

My two work fine with SW monitoring ON. I'm not sure the Emagic driver is compatible with the aggregate device in Tiger - assuming the Edirol is! Try running the Edirol or Emagic interface and the internal sound of the Mac together and see if that works.

I've had so many problems (distortion, desappearing volume and general unreliability) trying to run my Motu Traveler and 828 mk1 together that I gave up and I'm looking at buying an Adat converter for the Traveler such as the Behringer ada8000.
