Cd Burners new
      #23986 - 29/09/04 02:07 PM
Just looking for a new CD burner at the moment as I'm giving my old setup to my dad.
I was wondering if there's a general consensus of particularly good CD burners (and particularly bad) or wether it's best to just spend £20 and if it breaks- buy a new one!
Cheers
Pat

Plextor are often considered one of the best manufacturers although they are a little more expensive than the others. Their Premium drive is good if you are burning masters as it incorporates decent error checking.

However, these days it may be worth going for a DVD burner. They are a little more expensive but I find many of my projects are around the 1-2GB size now which is too big to fit on a CD. So far I haven't noticed any problems with audio CD's burned on a DVD burner.

Cheers.

James.

I would use nothing less than a Plextor.

But I do use a Plextor DVD burner now for CDs (plus a Panasonic for DVD-RAM for archiving).
