SX2 on a dual Xeon? new
      #23709 - 29/09/04 08:48 AM
Hi

Is anybody running Cubase SX2 (latest version) on a dual Xeon-based machine? I'm trying to set it up on a colleague's PC, but it is very flakey. I just want to eliminate the possibility that it wont run on such a machine before I carry on.

No info on Steinberg's site about it (not that I could find anyway).

Thanks

Chock

I know of a few people on the Nuendo (same engine as Cubase) forum ( forum.nuendo.com ) who use Dual Xeon machines. Most I guess are happy with them but I know of at least one who is also having problems. I think most of the dual-cpu PC users on there are using dual Opteron systems.

Hi Folks,

FYI I've installed several Dual-Xeon Servers used for Audio recording with 4Gb of ECC memory and RME HDSP PCI audio card.
These servers were all based on Intel Motherboards.
Eveything works perfectly, even with Windows XP Pro.

To obtain the best hardware performances, I 've even setuped Xeon-Servers using Fibre channel card to connect to a SAN (Storage Area Network) through Fibre optics connection
In this case, and ONLY this case, I had to disable in the BIOS of the motherboard all the monitoring features (CPU temp, Fan speed....)

Best regards and enjoy Music.
Pascal.
