Transfering between PC and Mac
      #25424 - 01/10/04 11:04 AM
I am currently running Logic Audio Platinum on my PC but am about to undertake a Music Tech course which primarily uses Pro-Tools on the Mac. The Macs do however run Logic as well, and I am just wondering if it will be possible to transfer work I've done on one platform to the other. Having no prior knowledge of Macs I would appreciate any help anyone could give on the matter!

I think that if the macs uses Protools under OS9, you can get digitranslator, that will allow you to import omf files.
Then, just export your project under logic as an OMF, and it should work.
PS: otherwise, download the trial version for PT 6 and do everything within 30 days...

I have transfered files OK the past in logic, although i only inported them i didn't save them on the PC side so dont know if anything special had to be done when saving.

I know on pro-tools as long as you tick the 'save as PC/Mac compatible' box then it works ok, is there perhaps something on Logic that does the same?

The main thing i'd watch out for however is versions. From what you've said it sounds like your college only runs logic as a secondry option to Pro-Tools, and if this is the case they might not have bothered to update it as much as the other, and it might be an older version.

You may therefore have to back-save your files (ie click on the pulldown menu below where you type the name and select to save as an older format of Logic) for the college computers to be able to read them.

I think the PC/Mac compatibility has something to do with file paths and file format... Does Protools on PC accept SDII files?
