MacBookPro lappys? new
      #260582 - 28/02/06 06:46 AM
is there going to be a review coming up? what complications could these machines incur. im in the market for a laptop and im guessing that performance will be equal when compairing pc to mac. I realize mac os is extremly stable so that makes me lean toward a mac. im a long time pc user and im looking into a Asus A6JA-Q017H but the MBP is
really looking nice. anyhow, im hoping there will be a review soon for the MBP's. i guess ill focus on selling some equip on ebay for now.

Up early too eh?

I have read on a couple of mac sites that the dual 2 MBPro has comparable performance to a Dual 2 G5 when using universal software, like Logic 7.2.
I would guess the main problem will be waiting for the 3rd party plugin and software companies to port to Universal, and then ironing out the bugs!
Of note though Logic, Live and RMX, 3 of my favorites, are already Universal!
People are worrying about build problems, and i'm sure there will be some, but I can't see Apple releasing a product that is not ready, it will affect their market share value!!!

hello,

here is a link which shows a comparison btw powerbook G4 & m3 musicXPC. So look at the specification, it is powerfull enough to beat POWERbook, and it is cheaper.

@ e.c. The Laptop that is in question is a MacBook Pro (with a dual 2GHz Intel) not a Powerbook G4.

I don't know about the 15" vs. the 17" and how that affects the price difference, but I'd call this comparison of numbers misleading. It certainly doesn't take into account the number of processes the G4 handles in those clock cycles.
