Signal path balance keeps randomly moving from right channel and back to central..Any ideas new
      #261883 - 02/03/06 02:19 PM
I've just got a G5 Quad, using Motu 828 MkII firewire..For some weird reason my signal path seems to randomly pass from central balance to right channel..? As far as I can tell its only on the return signal as my main outs (828) show a balanced signal and my console shows a balanced signal on the 2 track return which outs to my amp.. Bit baffled..the only thing I can think is its my consols signal path.. However it didn't happen with my PC set up which I sold this year to get the MAC set up and it happened the minute I installed the driver..I believ I am using th latest universal driver for my firewire interface..
Can anyone help..?

sounds like you have an auto panner plug in enabled in your signal path somewhere....

I am trying to understand your problem from what you say, but is it in the return from an external effects processor? Is it in the send? Where exactly are you seeing the issue? Perhaps it is a cable with a short in it...

As far as I am aware I don't have an auto panner plug in enabled in your signal path somewhere.. It happens as routine with all audio..eg if I am listening to radio 2 realplayer or if I am using logic..

..sure..Ok I have 828mkII which seems to be transmitting a balanced signal to my SoundCraft Ghost console which appears to be receiving a balanced signal..The path doesn't crackle or just cut out, it seems to pan from balance to right and back to balance again which makes me think it's not my console..?
It could be a cable but I don't think it would pan..
Doh!

A speaker cutting out would do that. Left channel goes, all you have is hard panned right. It comes back, centered audio. What are yoou monitoring on?

I'm using a ghost 24 console, Alesis RA300 amp and a pair of BM5s.. It seems to sweep to the right and then back to central and not just cut.. I'll check my cables..

Cutting would be cables, sweeping is more likely an active speaker shutting down and powering back up.
