I cannot record. I am on a mac G4. I have upgraded the operating system and installed new software. Now when I try to record I get this DAE error 9060. Why? and how can I get passed it? Thanks. M.

More info...

Which operating system exactly? (OS9, OSX Panther or Tiger)

Which version of Pro Tools LE? (5, 6 or 7)

Which new software ?- Are you using any Norton products? (Anti Virus or Utilities)

How did you upgrade the OS?

Sadly I do not know all of the details exactly. But here goes.

I am on a Mac G4 operating on Panther OSX.
I was on 10.1.8 (or something) now I am on 10.3.9.
I am trying to run Pro Tools 6.1.
I do have Norton Anti-Virus and Utilities on my computer.\
And I updated the OS just by following the directions of the computer when it periodically looks to upgade.

The problem specifically is that when I try to record. It goes for about 1 second then stops and says that it encountered a DAE error 9060. Also I have always had trouble recording. When I am able to record it is choosy as to which tracks it will record on. At times it will only let me record on even numbered tracks. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. Mad Miller.

Hi Miller

First, go to the Digidesign website and check that your version of OS X is compatible with your version of PTLE. Read all the info/advice on the site. If needs be, visit the Digidesign forum here. You'll find lots of tips about settings which might improve performance. Try searching through the posts (for example, searching for the error code you've been getting) because you may find you don't need to start a new thread.

You don't say which G4 you have or how much RAM is installed - this might be the problem.

Really swap-up on PTLE and the details of your machine and you should find you can get around these issues.

Thought so - I just fixed this for somebody else [its a classic...]

Go to 'Library/Startup Items' on your Hard drive and trash anything Norton in there...that should do it.

Better still uninstall Norton completely

Why are you running an anti-virus app in OS X?

It worked. Norton was the culprit. Thanks everybody.
