New Mackie interface
      #326480 - 19/07/06 01:37 AM
Mackie has come out with a very interesting product.

If I am late to this, and it's already been done, forgive me.

While it looks interesting, did they ever get their FireWire problems sorted? Has anyone used this on a Ma?

That is a good idea for a product, reminds me of the old "powerbook duo"'s? (I think that's what they were callled, but maybe I'm wrong).
Anyway,
I have an Onyx 400F, and it's been serving me quite well. I am assuming you've read the Mackie forums and heard a lot of complaints, but these are mostly on the PC side. A lot of hardware has problems with PC's though, because there are so many possibilities of computer setup, among other reasons. That said, Mackie (Or any company) should make sure their products work as advertised, for all user's. Modern Manufacturing can create many more defective units than we would like to think, but can we really be complaining about the price?
End of story, I think the new Mackie interfaces are nice. Mackie designed the analogue aspects, and Echo the digital. They both are experienced in their fields. Mackie hypes their [ ****** ] a little to much, but who doesn't really? It's good for the price though I think.

No, what I've read is mostly on the Mac side.

If a product doesn't work it doesn't really matter what it costs. BTW, the FW problems were of design, not ones of defective "parts" or "units."

Does anyone know if Mackie has sorted their FireWire problems?
