Octopre LE or Presonus digimax LT?
      #346224 - 30/08/06 08:51 AM
I have a Tascam FW-1884 which has 8 inputs, but I need to expand it to another 8. The FW has an ADAT input, so I am looking for a unit with 8 pres and ADAT out. I do not need more than 48kHz (ADAT limitation anyway), and do not really need any extra frills such as EQ or compression as I normally record flat and clean and process in Logic.

The two units I have so far identified are the Octopre LE and the Presonus Digimax LT. How do these compare? Can anyone suggest alternatives? Should I actually be considering an external mixer instead for additional flexibility / functionality. Which mixer would be recommended?

Thanks,
Roland

Have you considered the newer Digimax FS? I was half under the impression this was going to replace the LT.

Just a thought, I haven't heard either unit I'm affraid.

Looks an interesting unit, and yes, I cannot see why they would have both the LT and FS in their product range. The FS has a suggested retail price of $799 on their website as opposed to $999 for the LT, so either they're cutting prices or somehow it's an inferior unit. It's pretty new, and I cannot find any reviews, or dealers that have it in stock. Would be interested to hear if anyone has experience of it though.
