You might want to steer clear of interfaces using the Core Audio driver - Apple still
haven't sorted out issues.
And will you need a mixer if you have an
interface/software set-up?

Hi,
I'd personally disagree with the statement about Core Audio. It's rock
solid as far as I'm concerned. I've used Motu828mkII for a couple of years now and not had
one single issue in using it with PB g4 1GHz. Now I'm on a MBP 2.33GHz and so far so good.
I suppose it all boils down to how much you want to spend on your interface.
For around £500 I'd put my vote in for the Motu. Couldn't comment much on the USB version
other than to say I've heard some issues from my mate with Motu Traveller.... Stick to
firewire. In theory USB has plenty of bandwidth, but I think there is a fundamental
difference in how data is transmitted that makes it more prone to interruptions.

usb uses packets of data when it transmits where as firewire uses a continuous stream of
data

Hi,
I would recommend the Metric Halo 2882 or ULN2, They are the best sounding
boxes I've ever heard!

That works differently. It's the Firewire
audio driver which is causing the problems. See SOS Saffire Pro review this month.
