RME model ADI-8 AE new
      #44745 - 03/11/04 11:16 AM
Does anyone have any experience of this AD/DA unit? I'm in the market for a good AD and this has come to my attention.

Cheers.

Using one for about a year or two now. It is a slightly lower speced version of the DS model, but for me that is more than good enough. To me it sounds clean, noise and hum free. Not a single problem so far. Only minor points are almost total lack of metering. You only have a led that flickers a bit when there is signal, and a led that lights at overload. Gain setting is for all 8 ins (or outs) at the same time, no separate level settings (and only line levels).

Thanks for that. What Im using a MOTU 828 MK2 and I'm looking improve on its AD conversion. Does anyone know whether a unit like the RME will give me appreciably better performance than the 828 on its own?

I know to get outstanding AD you need to spend a LOT of money, but the RME is within my range and I don't want to waste my hard-earned!!
