I don't see no reason why Logic should scare you mate. It really isn't as hard as some make it out to be, in fact I find it easy to use. I select my instrument, press record and play, simple! Editing can get tricky but that goes for every program.
Also I'm sure Logic would be miles better than Pro Tools for midi sequencing. And you also get a bundle of plugins, and you can pick a copy up cheap from ebay, the list goes on.

I use Logic on a mac pro and it's the cats whiskers, I love seeing the four cores on the performance meter. Have a track Im doing with 25 tracks so far (Sampletank, Mirolslav Philharmonic, Absynth), basically high cpu demand plugs and I'm on about 20%.

Get Logic!!

another vote for Logic as far as midi sequencing is concerned - better than PT by a long shot.

Logic can be daunting, because it's so powerful - but really worth the effort.

Whatever suits your workflow is best.

I work quicker and more effective in ProTools than I will ever work in Logic. Mostly because it suits my way of looking at sound and music.

With PT I feel like I can really touch the audio and sculpt it . I need that for my way of working...

Logic is excellent too, just different.
If you don't like, don't use it. ;-)

Cheers! Poly

I suggest an iMac, because of PTLE low track count a Mac Pro is overkill.
