has anybody managed to make use of the SX3 arpeggiators? new

I believe you can pipe the output to a midi channel by holding down a chord in say a 4 bar loop selecting 'merge midi in loop' and then the chord itself is overwritten and the arpeggio notes appear instead. But it just will not do it for me.

Also. I'll run the loop a few times, stop SX3 rolling, then press play again and the arpeggio is played several octaves higher.

I have had a look in the manual and that's n help at all. ONce I can get some control over the arpeggiator I can sell my supernova, all i use it for is generating arpeggios and even that won't sync up to SX3 for some reason that is beyond me, my other synths sync up no problem

Record your chord to a MIDI part. Place the left and right locators around the MIDI part, P is the default shortcut for doing that (Set locators to selection).

Go to the MIDI menu, select merge MIDI in loop. An options box pops up with options to include sends and inserts, and to erase the original part. Select the options as you want them (you will want to include the insert, as that is where the arpeggiator is) and hit ok.

The arpeggiated notes are now placed into your MIDI part. Sorry if the actual terms are incorrect, but I don't have Cubase installed on this puter.

As to why the pitch is higher when you restart, is it possible you have some pitch change lingering over from the bar before? Just a thought...

Thanks for that, but that's what I'd already done, and it steadfastly refuses to do it.

Just to cover every possibly eventuality

chord recorded in the midi part on channel, so I have a sustained chord over the length of say 2 bars.

left and right locators set around those two bars.

have already opened the insert for arpache (am i missing somehitng at this point may be, o I have to have the arpegiattor 'running' eg notes coming out)

Go to merge midi in looop with the options you suggest

then what do i do, press paly? hold down the notes on the keyboard (altyhough i see no need for that as the chord is already there between the left and right locators)

when I press play, the arpegiatted notes are played but in the part itself the sustained chord remiains, even though i had selected 'include inserts and erase desitnation'

at what point are the notes supposed to over write the sustained chord?

NotMarky,

Thanks, it's done it now! I think what i might have missed is selecting one of the preset patterns in the arp
