Recording Bass new
      #477015 - 23/06/07 09:16 PM
How can I get my bass guitar recordings sounding warmer and more punchy. I record via my Saffire interface to Logic on my MacPro, and even using Logic's Bass Amp simulator, or using Guitar Rig, it still sounds dull and bland. I want a clean warm full sound, not a distorted trebly sound, or a muddy dull bassy sound.
Is a DI box the answer, such as the MXR M80, or what.
Thanks,
Tristan.

how are you recording the bass at the moment - you say through the saffire. Does the Saffire have a guitar input then?

The most important thing with the bass is the instrument and the player. Are you using your fingers or pick and where are you plucking the string? It sounds different where you pluck the string.

Fender Pbass will sound very warm. It all depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to spend but most importantly the bass an the player just like everything else.
