Suddenly my monitor starts to blink! new
      #497260 - 06/08/07 08:11 PM
Hi,
I'm on a MacPro running the latest osX mainly using this Mac in my studio.
A couple of days ago this starts to happen!:
Leaving my Mac untouched for about 10 minuts, my monitors suddenly begins to blink, like 1 second totally black, 1 second the desktopm. When I move my mouse (Logitech) Mx700, the Cyclus stops, but the left button on my mouse doesn't work anymore, and the only solution is to restart the machine.
I know this might be rather OT, but have anyone any help, I would apreciate it very much! stigc56@mac.com

have you tried another mouse?
Just wondered if all these events are triggered by a faulty mouse (somehow triggering a screen setting, as the cursor is hovering over your desktop?)
It actually sounds as if your screen saver is active after 10 minutes, and your mousebutton is stuck down, so as soon as the screen saver activates, it "sees" a click from your mouse, and wakes up again....

Failing that, depending on the kind of Mac, check if the video card is properly seated in it's slot, has the Mac been serviced recently? (if it is older, it may be full of dust, sigarette smoke (nicotine) which could affect contacts on the motherboard etc)
It would be good to have it serviced and cleaned out if that's the case.

There is a setting in System Preferences, under Universal Access/Hearing, where one can enable/disable the screen to flash during alert sounds. Have a look to see if this is enabled.

Also, check if you have an "invalid sound file" installed somewhere in your system:
