Connecting Behringer ADA8000 to my PC new
      #500159 - 11/08/07 05:27 PM
I'm interested in buying a Behringer ADA8000 8-channel A/D and D/A converter to record tracks to my PC.

I understand the output of the ADA8000 is ADAT optical.

What is the best/cheapest way to connect the ADA8000 directly to my PC?

Can you buy standalone ADAT optical in cards for your PC? If so who makes them and could you point me in the right direction.

Cheers.

the ada8000 is more of an expansioin unit

you'd be better off buying a firewire or usb interface that will replace your soundcard

theres pleny to of options

RME do _excellent_ Adat cards. You should keep an eye out on Readers' Ads, ebay, etc for an old RME Hammerfall card - a while back I gave one away they have dropped so low in price! Their drivers are rock solid, low CPU overhead, etc and a lot of people still like them.

Firewire is a good option for flexibility, but a system running Adat to converters is still a fine way of doing it! In certain respects, given the slightly iffy Firewire spec / implementations out there, it might be a better option.
