Digidesign Introduces New Mbox 2 Micro (PT dongle!!) new
      #538610 - 26/10/07 11:19 AM
From the Digi site HERE

€225 for a PT dongle seems a bit steep eh?? Bundled wit PT LE but shouldn;t hthere be an option for current Le users too??

Digidesign Introduces New Mbox 2 Micro
10/25/07
Ultra-small USB Pro Tools LE solution enables playback, editing, sequencing, and mixing on the go

As the much anticipated answer to one of the top requests from Pro Tools® users, Digidesign is excited to introduce the new Mbox® 2 Micro, the smallest member of the Mbox 2 family, enabling Pro Tools users to edit, sequence, and mix sessions created on Pro Tools|HD®, Pro Tools LE®, and Pro Tools M-Powered™ systems on the go, as well as compose music with virtual instruments and loops.

About the size of a typical USB flash drive, Mbox 2 Micro offers high-quality sound, a 1/8-inch stereo output for headphone or speaker monitoring (no audio inputs), and a convenient volume wheel for quick adjustments. While it doesn’t offer any audio inputs, Mbox 2 Micro does come with award-winning Pro Tools LE software, Bomb Factory® and DigiRack™ plug-ins, and Digidesign’s Xpand!™ sample-playback/synthesis workstation, enabling you to work with Pro Tools sessions and compose wherever inspiration takes you.

If i was made of money + owned a mac book pro then I would probably get one, so convenient if your on a train and want to make music but don't want to take a huge mbox around with you.

Don't get me wrong.. The idea is great! The price and being forced to buying protools again is not so great!

Yes...It's a little bit steep considering that the market for this is people who already own pro tools in some form or other and just want to be able to open sessions on the go. Digi will argue that it costs 150 quid because you get LE and some plug ins etc etc...you've already GOT that.

All the time I used Pro Tools I was waiting for this kind of thing.

It is very, very expensive, though.

Being able to work while waiting for the bus, train, plane, folks, etc., was one of the five main reasons I recently began using another sequencer.

as a PTLE user with both an 002 and an MBox and probably finding myself travelling again in the near future and to be honest so I could just sit with headphones in the lounge with the missus... this would be really useful... and I'd definitely buy one if they did an already a registered owner discount... even if it was say 100 quid...

maybe they could bundle it with the music producers toolkit...

great idea!

I like the idea of the thing but as most everyone has said.. digi should really offer the hardware seperate to the PTLE software

As it comes with an up to date copy of PTLE, the price may be more palatable if you're upgrading anyway.

But yeah, +1 for there should be a discount to existing registered PT users.

Being a Logic DAW boy I am very interested in this product, when street price hits £150 I will seriously consider getting into Pro Tools 7.4. Elastic Audio and all that is appealing + I will be PT compatible if needed, saving me the shedloads I would have to pay just for SSL Pro Convert, which is not Mac or Logic compatible anyhoo.
