i have a mac G5 with the following gear.
mackie controller
mbox & pro tools
jp8000
drum station
bass station
emu e5000
dat
analogue tape
lexicon mpx550
im gonna get cd recorder, logic pro.
selection of mics

first thing i want to get is a sound card, in the future im thinking of starting a small project studio, all my equipment has around 24 inputs, i want to record bands etc.. as well as dance music in my studio. I know i already have enough stuff for dance, but the band stuff i want a minimum of 8 inputs for drums alone, i also wouldent mind future proofing. so maybe 192khz audio

1. do i get a motu 24i/o for my gear and then other motu goodies for mics at a later date. keeping the whole thing analogue free, mixer free. (mackie control using software based mixing)

get a sound card like a motu 192hd and seperate mixer (such as a mackie 32.8) or a 24 i/o and forget about the high def stuff and mixerless studio.
