quite figured out whats in there yet as it's only just come online!) I'd been
refreshing the apple store all day as it was 'down for improvements'! Ordering mine
tonight! I am one happy Doug! (just to add, it may not be a huge difference however at least i know that i'll not be
annoyed by another release in a week or twos time!!!!)

Yes, nice spec (updated MacBooks too) But im not exactly ricocheting off the walls
with excitement over them here. Still, if you are in the market, then all the better Paul

I think it's a bit tight that Apple refuse to put a super drive in their low end Macbook -
in todays market, what point is a combo drive? Really grinds my gears

the thing that interests me in the new ones is the multi touch pad and using it to control
my DAW. Too bad for me that I bought one last summer, so I won't be in the market for a
new one anytime soon. I wonder if it'll be possible to get a hold of the new track pad
some how and have it put into an older model since the track pads are connected to the
motherboard via USB.

Even better, I think, would be if they were
to introduce an external multi-touch trackpad, perhaps larger than one in the MacBook
Pros/Airs. The mouse/trackball paradigm is in big need of replacement.

That is a trip! I swear I bought the low end
Macbook last year, and it has a superdrive- I am almost sure i didn't make it an
upgrade... The weirder part is if you put the lowend in your cart to customize it, there
is no option to make it a superdrive! Nor is there an option to downgrade the higher
models from a super down to a combo drive.. Either it is a mistake, or they found a
mountain of combo drives they had to get rid of... Pretty silly regardless. Still the
specs are hot on these machines generally speaking..

Happy for you Doug But doesn't seem a massive jump to me and have never really
worried about missing the next update - they are all really capable machines and I have
been happy since this time last year with mine. I look at it philosophically,
and don't get that bothered about when machines/software will be updated as long as what I
buy provides the tools I need

Cheeky!!
Well to be honest,
i'm not overly fussed about the new specs (i'd have been fine with the old ones) but i
just wanted to be sure that if i bought one there wouldnt be some HUGE overhaul that would
either make me kick myself or somehow render mine completely pointless 2 weeks down the
line! So i'm happy even though theres not a huge improvement in the spec! Mine
is now on order after a couple of chats with our irish call center friends! Just got
to get that last little bit of cash together in order to upgrade to L8 in the next couple
of months! I cant wait to sit it next to my aluminum iMac.... then get mad drunk to
forget about spending yet more money on shiny computers.....!

Luckily I've managed to time it perfectly, and managed to have an older one (the mid
model) for 1 week and two days before they released the new ones...
